Lau Scholarship application deadline extended!!!!!!

The deadline for application for the 2011 L. Stephen Lau Water Research Endowed Scholarship has been extended to March 28th.
This scholarship was established with funds endowed to the University of Hawaii at Manoa by Dr. L. Stephen Lau and Mrs. Virginia May Lau of Honolulu.  Dr. Lau is Emeritus Professor of Civil Engineering at the Univerity of Hawaii at Manoa College of Engineering and was, from 1971 to 1990, directr of the UH Water Resources Research Center.
The purpose of the scholarship is to further knowledge of Hawai‘i’s natural waters by providing financial assistance that may be used for anything related to costs of attendance or research.
For 2011, the amount of the award will be $1500.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
  • Part- or full-time UH Manoa student;
  • Upper division undergraduate or
  • Graduate student;
  • Any discipline related to water resources at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa.
SELECTION CRITERIA
  • Minimum GPA of 3.2 for undergraduates or 3.5 for graduates.
  • An essay or a research proposal on any aspect of Hawai‘i natural waters and how the applicant’s research or area of study is related to it.
How to Apply for Scholarship:
An application form may be downloaded here. Applicants must submit the application form, an essay or research proposal, and evidence of eligibility for the scholarship, to the Director, Water Resources Research Center, University of Hawai‘i at Manoa, 2540 Dole Street, Holmes Hall 283, Honolulu, HI 96822. Deadline for receipt of applications is March 28, 2011.
